Fashionistas of the Week is a new weekly post featuring the three best dressed students on campus spotted by our fashion writer. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around because you might be chosen as the latest trendsetter.
This post was written by Hatchet Reporter Ana Buling.
There is something about below freezing weather that makes wanting to get out of bed, much-less getting ready for a day of class, a seemingly unfavorable and unfashionable endeavor. Yet, remarkably, GW students have managed to pilfer their wardrobes and create perfect outfits for the New Year and the first days of classes.
John Taylor, a senior majoring in International Affairs
What he was wearing: While many others opt for UGGs, this fashionisto chose to mix it up with a different style boot – classic cowboys boots by Justin. Also sporting a Diesel bag, Taylor completed his outfit with a Club Monaco sweater, INC coat and Rock & Republic Jeans.
His inspiration comes from the house of Viktor & Rolf and he describes his style as carefree, adding that he loves a good pair of boots to liven up his outfit.
Alexander Schaper, a freshman majoring in Political Science
What he was wearing: Shoes from Collection of Style, the premium line of clothing from H&M and pants and hat from the affordable, yet ultra chic Spanish clothing line Zara. His jacket is from Guess.
He describes his style as alternative and European and his fashion idol is Giorgio Armani.
Simone Smith, a senior majoring in Business
What she was wearing: This international fashionista sported a Carrie Bradshaw-esque headpiece purchased in China and white sunglasses from Japan. Her fabulous dress is a vintage 1950s piece with Pacman print that emulates the clothes of a housewife from that era. Her sweater is a gift from Paris and her jacket is from Anthropologie.
When asked who her fashion idol was, she replied, “Everyone walking out on the street is so interesting. You can’t just follow one person.” Smiling, she described her style as eclectic. Ooh la la!
