Welcome back! Here are some things to look forward to this week:
- Start the week off right with a ping pong tournament at the Rock and Roll Hotel Jan. 11. Sign up begins at 6 p.m. – although the event is free, you must be at least 21 to play.
- Karaoke singers, rejoice – here’s a chance to be recognized for your vocal talents. On Jan. 12 at 10 p.m. , head to Sticky Rice to participate in the H Street Karaoke Competition: judges will choose the top 3-5 singers, who will then perform in the Jan. 26 finals at the Rock and Roll Hotel. Can’t make it on the 12th? Sticky Rice will host another night on Jan. 19, and Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar has a night planned on Jan. 20 (contest entry is free on all nights).
- Want to be a DJ? Own an iPod? Cafe Saint-Ex will make your dreams come true – their “BYOiPod Night,” the second Wednesday of each month (Jan. 13), allows regular folks to put on their favorite playlists from 9 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.
And here’s some good news:
- Although the District’s beloved pandas are scheduled to return to China later this year, we may be expecting a cute little replacement cub, DCist reports.
