Metro SmarTrip users can expect a number of upgrades to the electronic fare system, The Washington Post is reporting.
The Washington Area Metropolitan Transportation Authority is planning to phase in a Web site feature that allows SmarTrip users to add value to their cards online by the late spring, and an auto-load system that allows users to add money at fare gates and boxes, according to the Post. Currently, users can add money to the card at more than 220 retail locations.
