Happy Black Friday! While you’re recovering from Thanksgiving dinner or early-morning shopping, here’s a look back at what happened in the District this week that you may have missed:
‘Courage’ the Turkey pardoned
President Barack Obama pardoned a turkey named Courage on Wednesday, a tradition that started with the first President Bush. The turkey will now live out the rest of his days in Disneyland. Watch the official pardon here, which features the turkey as well as Obama and his daughters, Malia and Sasha.
State dinner party crashers?
Another first for Obama this week was his first state dinner, which honored Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday night. Though the event seemed to go off without a hitch, now it turns out some reality show hopefuls made it past the Secret Service without being on the guest list. Tareq and Michaele Salahi, who have photos of themselves on Facebook with Vice President Joe Biden and other guests, are said to be part of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of D.C.” cast. CNN reports that the couple already has been involved in some drama–16 lawsuits in Virginia.
This is the Real World: D.C.
Other reality stars showed up at the White House and across D.C. this summer. While some GW students saw “The Real World” cast members during filming, now everyone can see what went down. Check out the trailer for the latest season of MTV’s “The Real World” here. The show premieres Dec. 30.
