Comedian Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central, will headline Colonials Weekend 2009 with a live performance, university administrators confirmed Thursday night.

Colonials Weekend, a chance for parents and families to visit the campus, begins Oct. 16 and ends Oct. 18. Peter Konwerski, associate vice president for Student and Academic Support Services, said the University would be releasing more details, including ticket prices, tomorrow.

This will be Stewart’s second time as the headliner for Colonials Weekend. In 2005, Stewart entertained crowds at two sold-out shows. He also appeared on campus in 2004 during Colonials Weekend to film an episode of CNN’s Crossfire, and performed at GW in February of 2000 as well.

Previous Colonials Weekend performers include Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld and Whoopi Goldberg.
