Though she was honored with a send-off on Senior Day, senior Antelia Parrish remains eligible to play basketball at GW this coming fall, Assistant Sports Information Direction Jesse Hooker said today.
Hooker explained, however, no decision has been made as to whether she will use that eligibility to play for GW this fall and that the University has no immediate plans to petition the NCAA for Parrish’s eligibility to extend through the duration of the 2009-2010 season.
Parrish’s remaining semester of eligibility would need to be used immediately because student-athletes are allotted a five-year window in which to exhaust their four years of eligibility, Hooker said. Parrish enrolled at Central Florida Community College for the 2005 spring semester and began playing at Prince George’s Community College that fall.
Parrish then transferred to GW prior to the 2007 spring semester and sat out a semester due to NCAA transfer rules before playing for the Colonials the last two seasons. The fall semester will be her 10th semester and thus the final in which she will be eligible to play without an NCAA extension.
