NY Mag entertains the possibility that ‘Funny People’ may be good

I’ve often made the point that there is not a single working comedian I find less funny than Adam Sandler. (Jimmy Fallon, Andy Dick and Carrot Top excluded, of course.)

The things is, as is often the case with robustly self-important stances, it’s possible I was wrong.

When I saw the preview for Judd Apatow’s upcoming Funny People a few weeks ago, I felt a lot of good and bad and thoughtful things, processed as a manufactured sense of “alive” only achieved via good ol’ mainstream cinema.

This film could be good, and some smart people at NY Mag think so.

Funny People hits theaters July 21.
