The Pita Pit in the basement of Ivory Tower was robbed for the second time in three months last weekend when the store was broken into and more than $2,000 was stolen, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.
In addition to the money, a Toshiba laptop was also taken from the sandwich venue overnight on April 3, the report states.
When employees arrived on the morning of April 3, they noticed the store’s front gate was slightly open, according to the report. There was also apparent damage to the ceiling, an office door and a filing cabinet. The laptop was taken from the counter and the money was stolen from the file cabinet.
In February, $5,000 was stolen overnight and Pita Pit owner Daniel Corno said he saw the alleged robbers dressed in ski masks on a surveillance video. It is unclear if the thieves from April 3 were caught on tape.
Corno and University Police Chief Dolores Stafford were unavailable for comment Wednesday.
