A burrito venue will open Monday in the space adjacent to Little Italy in J Street, Sodexo representatives said Friday.
The Tex-Mex-style venue will be in J Street for at least three weeks while the Dining Services Commission gathers student opinion about the food quality. The new burrito venue will include fish, chicken, pulled pork, beef and daily vegetarian options.
“It is going to be better quality meats and lower prices,” said director of the Dining Services Commission, sophomore Chris Franzetti. “It is another step towards Qdoba from the University.”
Sodexo Director of Operations Sam Ramos said representatives will be test-run making burritos on Sunday so the venue could be “fully operational” by Monday.
“It will be just like Chipotle,” said Mo Emami, Sodexo dining director. “But our prices will be 25 percent cheaper than Chipotle’s.”
The University decided to add a burrito vendor to J Street after students–through petitions and Facebook–expressed interest for a Chipotle-like option on the mandatory money plan.
