Student Association Executive Vice President Kyle Boyer announced his candidacy for the SA’s highest office Wednesday morning.
Boyer, a junior, said if elected SA president, he plans on acting as “chief advocate” for students, rather than focusing on programming like current SA President, Vishal Aswani.
“There were commitments to make sustainability a priority, but they were pushed aside in favor of programming,” Boyer said in a press release.
He added, “There were assurances that every effort would be made to improve dining services, but those efforts took a back seat to a Unity Ball and a float.”
Boyer pointed out some of his accomplishments as EVP this year.
“I was able to bring student and University leaders together to meet with almost every major administrator in Rice Hall, work to support student orgs through increased allocations, help increase transparency in SA undergraduates and graduates, establish partnerships between Metro and area universities, support Greek life, and attempt to open up more space for student use,” Boyer said.
Boyer is the first candidate to announce his run for office. SA elections will take place Feb. 25 and 26.
