h4>Martha’s Marathon is a valued tradition
Over the last two years the Residence Hall Association has attempted to revamp a long standing tradition within the GW community. Martha’s Marathon of Birthday Bargains is currently in its 44th year at this University. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event go to support the general scholarship fund which now more then ever could use help from everyone who has the means to support it.
Last year we changed the raffle format to include two of the top five housing picks. In the last two years that we have held this raffle, students purchasing one ticket won each of those prized picks.
This year we have drastically increased the number of rooms that will be up for auction. We made this change to make the system fairer to all students, realizing that over the past few years we were catering to the type of student who would be willing to invest $6,000 into an Ivory Tower quad. Additionally, we hoped to spread this opportunity with students from all class years by providing most popular rooms from each class year.
We trust that the student body will see this charitable event as a unique opportunity for all students, and that the 44th edition is better than ever. Scott Crawford, Residence Hall Association President
