Just did some research after assistant sports editor Dan Greene brought up a good question: when was the last time both of GW’s basketball teams were below .500 this late in the season? The answer? Twenty years ago, in January 1989, the last season under former women’s coach Jennifer Bednarek. The women’s team dropped to 4-8 on Jan. 12, while the men’s team was in the midst of their infamous 1-27 season. And now you know.
