Just 14 hours after losing by 26 to Hawaii, GW’s men’s basketball team (6-5) lost 59-53 to the MEAC’s Coppin State, who entered the game with a 1-10 record. Fatigue may have played a factor, especially in Coppin State’s 21-0 first half run.
GW finishes last out of eight teams at the Rainbow Classic, losing all three of its games. Senior Rob Diggs played just two minutes in the second half before being benched and his classmate Wynton Witherspoon once again did not see the court.
The Colonials next play Jan. 3 at Longwood after flying back to the mainland.
