I sat down last night to my family’s Christmas Eve dinner and, along with taking in the Christmas Cheer, I realized just how much salt I was ingesting at the same time. Don’t worry, I’m not going to lecture anybody on health concerns, especially when students are finally getting to enjoy well-deserved home cooked meals. Rather if you are feeling some of that Christmas Cheer, and are looking for a charity with some bang for its buck, consider all that salt.
A report on cost effective foreign aid recently found that providing Micronutrients for malnourished communities has one of the best cost to benefit ratios. For example, simply iodizing salt consumed during pregnancy can give an individual up to 10 extra I.Q. points. Here is a way to help people work on their I.Q.s while we let ours relax.
Merry Christmas!
