Freshman guard Kayla Miller has left the women’s basketball program, according to a press release just sent out by Assistant SID Jesse Hooker. Here’s the release:
WASHINGTON, DC – George Washington women’s basketball head coach Mike Bozeman has announced that freshman guard Kayla Miller (Wilmington, DE/Ursuline Academy) has left the program.
“Kayla is a great person and basketball player and I’m sorry things did not work out for her at GW,” Bozeman said. “Part of me is sad it didn’t work out, but Kayla deserves to be happy and I’ll never hesitate to help her in the future.”
Miller, a three-time All-State selection at Ursuline Academy in Delaware, averaged 1.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 6.2 minutes in seven games off the bench for the Colonials. She had nine points, three rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes of action in GW’s 77-36 victory over Coppin State Nov. 17.
Miller was one of a half-dozen freshmen on the team this year. No word yet on why she is leaving or if she will remain enrolled at GW. We’ll have more on this when we get it.
Update, 8:27 p.m. Hooker has informed me that Miller will not be returning to GW.
