A Girl Talk concert at Harvard Thursday ended prematurely when police stopped the show amid concerns for students’ safety.
The Harvard Crimson reported that the crowd of students was pushing to get near the stage despite repeated requests from concert organizers and administrators to step back. As per Girl Talk’s contract, no barricade was in place between the stage and crowd.
Earlier this year, the University had approached the popular mash-up artist about playing at Fall Fest, but then backed out of contract negotiations in large part because of Girl Talk’s request that no barricade be put in place.
“It is something we aren’t equipped to handle and is something we weren’t willing to take on,” SAC Executive Director Tim Miller said at the time.
