The Snapshot printed in The Hatchet’s Monday edition came with this caption:

Attorney and former Clinton adviser Vernon Jordan, former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Time Warner Chairman Richard Parsons talk at Jack Morton Auditorium. Parsons was honored by PBS’s “HistoryMakers” on Saturday.

The HistoryMakers program, a collection of African American biographies that airs on PBS, has taped in the SMPA’s Jack Morton Auditorium for several years, including a piece last year on Quincy Jones.

The event was “not a media event, just a rental” of the SMPA, University Spokesperson Tracy Schario said, but columnists from the Washington Post managed to report a few more details from Saturday’s taping.

Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts write that many at the reception were excited about President-elect Barack Obama’s historic win. Powell, a GW alumnus, “noted that there are a lot of delighted people in this country right now” and Parsons, one of Obama’s economic advisor’s, “said the election left many of his colleagues — especially African Americans — in shock.”
