CRs react to projected Obama victories in battleground states

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Matt Rist.

A wave of disappointment washed over the College Republicans glued to the Fox News election coverage when both Ohio and Pennsylvania were called for Sen. Barack Obama. The loss of these two states makes it nearly impossible for Sen. John McCain to reach 270 Electoral College votes.

Sophomore Andrew Moore was not optimistic about Sen. John McCain’s chance of winning the election.

“At this point, it’s looking bleak,” he said. “It’ll take a miracle for John McCain to pull out a win tonight.”

CR chairman Brand Kroeger was not convinced that Pennsylvania was lost.

“We’ve had people on the ground in PA and for them to call PA with 1 percent of precincts reporting is premature,” he said.

Kroeger was also optimistic about McCain’s chances in Florida.

He said, “We’re going to win Florida.”
