Applause exploded at the College Democrats watch party in response to CNN’s announcement that two McCain aides said they see “no path to victory.”

“It hasn’t quite set in yet,” said Amelia West, vice president of the CDs. “Looking at the electoral map, McCain would have to carry the rest of the country, and it is very telling of the end of the campaign.”

The projected wins in Iowa and Virginia contributed to the optimistic feeling at the GW CDs watch party.

West said, “This is the culmination of a lot of phone banking and canvassing. This is a chance to come together with fellow Democrats and feel the energy and passion surrounding the campaign.”
