Rich kids aiming to express yourself as true artists unite! Ambient music man Brian Eno has created a composer-type application for the iPhone, which allows you to compose – by yourself or with the program.
According to Pitchfork:
Leave it to Brian Eno to turn the iPhone into an ambient musical instrument. This week, iTunes released an iPhone application called Bloom, created by Eno and his Spore collaborator Peter Chilvers [via Wired’s Listening Post and Gizmodo].
Bloom has two operating modes: Create, in which you play all the notes yourself, and Listen, in which it plays along with you (or all by itself).
The way to play is simple: Touch the screen, and the iPhone makes a pinging sound and shows an expanding colored bubble. Make pings of different pitches by touching the screen in different vertical locations. Customize the settings, create a pattern, and within minutes, you’ve got a demo to submit to Kompakt Records!
Sorry Trent, but this thing kicks the Nine Inch Nails iPhone game’s digital ass. Now if only Eno could come up with an interactive Oblique Strategies app… UPDATE: Hey, what do you know (not interactive and not from Eno, but still)!
