Women’s basketball freshman Sara Mostafa has been wearing a boot on her left foot and sat out of a short team practice on Wednesday. Jesse Hooker, assistant director of sports information for women’s basketball said Mostafa had a rolled ankle that was “a little more severe” than other slight injuries sustained to other players.
Still, Hooker said the injury was not expected to be an issue once the season started. Official practice begins Oct. 15.
Mostafa is one of seven newcomers to the women’s basketball team this season after most of last year’s starting lineup graduated. She graduated from Absegami High School in New Jersey and led her team to back to back state championships in 2005 and 2006, averaging 13.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game in her senior season.
