Former Virginia governor and current U.S. Senatorial candidate, Mark Warner, will deliver the keynote address for the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Denver on Aug 26. Warner, who graduated GW in 1977 and went on to help found the telecommunications company Nextel, served as governor of Virginia from 2002 to 2006. In his address to the convention, Warner will highlight his economic and job creation successes in Virginia during his term, according to a news release from his campaign.
Warner announced his candidacy for the 2008 Senate seat in September. He was buzzed as a possible vice presidential candidate to share the ticket with presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, until Warner accepted the Virginia Democratic Party’s nomination as Senatorial candidate in June.
