Police said today that the man who fell from a GW Hospital window ledge this weekend died on Tuesday afternoon.
Kossi Apeble, a 38-year-old resident of Silver Spring, Md., was pronounced dead at 3:15 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department Spokesperson Geri Mack told The Hatchet.
Apeble suffered serious injuries after falling from a fifth-story ledge on the New Hampshire Avenue side of the building. He threatened to jump for four hours before dangling from the ledge and falling onto the edge of an inflatable mat – partially hitting the ground.
Hospital officials said they are investigating the incident.
“We are conducting an administrative review of Saturday’s events to identify any improvements to hospital processes that might prevent the chance of such an unfortunate event happening again,” said Heather Oldham, a hospital spokesperson.
The D.C. Medical Examiner said today that they have not yet released the exact cause of death.
