Update, 8:45 p.m. — O’Connor’s final line probably isn’t what he had in mind when he took the mound less than two hours ago: 3 and 1/3 innings pitched, 9 earned runs on 6 hits, 6 walks and 1 strikeout.

It’s been a busy day for the GW baseball program. The Colonials dropped a pair of games to La Salle this afternoon, a move that drastically hurts their chances of slipping into the Atlantic 10 postseason. GW sits now sits at 10-13 in conference — a game behind Dayton and Fordham, and likely two behind sixth-place St. Bonaventure. The Colonials have one more crack at the Explorers tomorrow afternoon.
Back in the District, GW alum Mike O’Connor is making his first start in over two years for the Nationals. O’Connor has made four appearances out of the bullpen this season, and had some rust to shake off early — Marlins’ centerfielder Cody Ross sent O’Connor’s first pitch deep into the left field stands.
Rounding out GW’s action tonight is Kim Beck, who’ll be one of five players vying for two remaining spots on the Seattle Storm in the squad’s last preseason test.
