Update, 2:49 p.m. — At the half, GW leads 31-10. There’s been word that Lora Mitchell (6-foot-1) can dunk a volleyball, so I’m going to try to find one and see if we can set that up sometime after the game. I think the fans would love to see that one.
Update, 2:31 p.m. — GW now leads 22-7 with nearly everyone pitching in, as Beck has a team-high five points. The seniors from the Colonial Brass and GW Spirit squads are being recognized right now, as we’re in the middle of a media timeout.
We’re here at Smith Center for the women’s basketball team’s last game of the regular-season. All four graduating seniors have started for GW, including Lora Mitchell, who promptly scored the game’s first three points. This is the most crowded I’ve ever seen the student section for a women’s basketball game, with nearly all of the lower sections filled. The Colonials lead 7-5 so far.
