I sat down with Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz yesterday to discuss a myriad of things and the Smith Center was one of them. Smitty is always a source of great contention among GW basketball fans and the last time The Hatchet spoke to Kvancz about the building, Andrew Alberg and Jake Sherman reported that the athletic department had a prospective donor who was looking at blueprints of renovations and deciding whether he wanted to sign a contract.

Well, when I asked Kvancz about the building yesterday, he was very quick to make no comment, as in “I have no comment on that.” I tried asking him a couple different ways, including off the record, but he wouldn’t budge. He is usually pretty open with information, so it is interesting that he would not comment this time around.
