WOW Café and Wingery at Marvin Center is scheduled to start serving alcohol on Thursday.
Manager Jose Liriano said the restaurant and its entire staff are ready and able to start serving alcohol immediately. Several types of beer have already been shipped to the restaurant, where they are locked up in a metal cage next to the ordering station.
Identificiation will be checked when ordering alcohol and wristbands will be given to people older than 21, Liriano said. Only one drink can be ordered at a time and WOW staff members will be patrolling the area checking that only legal-age people are drinking.
Although Feb. 14 is the scheduled date, Liriano said that he can not guarantee they will actually be able to unlock the alcohol.
“We don’t know what will happen between now and then, but we’re ready,” Liriano said.
The city approved WOW’s liquor license in mid-January, which was actually an application to amend the current University license to sell alcohol at Marvin Center.
