Ahh, Superbowl Sunday – an American tradition 42 years in the making. Still not sure where you’re gonna watch your team lose? Here’s a few suggestions, with some help from ‘da BarBelle.
- Arlington Cinema N Drafthouse. (2903 Columbia Pike. Arlington, VA) – This place is sweet. You can watch the game on a HUGE movie screen, all with table service, cold drinks and good food. And there will be live music before the game!
- The Green Turtle (601 F St. NW) – Gallery Place/Chinatown. BarBelle Rating: 4 bells. “When I walked into the Green Turtle on Sunday I felt like a child entering Teletubbie land where big-bellied men wearing jerseys of all the colors of the rainbow giggled and cheered as their teams hit the big screen televisions…The Green Turtle displays personal flat screen televisions at each individual table so you can watch football while the obnoxious people behind you root on hockey.“
- R.F.D. (810 7th St. NW) – Gallery Place/Chinatown. BarBelle Rating: 3 bells. “Carrying 40 different brews on tap and more than 300 bottled beers, this bar is sure to have a little something for everyone.”
- Old Dominion Brew House (1219 9th St. NW) – Convention Center/Mount Vernon Square. BarBelle Rating: 3 bells. “About a 15-minute Metro ride, the bar is located about a block away from the Convention Center/Mount Vernon stop. “Old Dominion Brew House is fairly new and well-kept with a ton of screens displayed throughout the room…The top reason for going there, however, is the (drumroll pleaseā¦) MIGHTY BEER TOWER! For $20 you can purchase a beer-loaded tube that pours out about ten to twelve cups. For those up to the challenge, every person at the table should get his or her own and compete to see who finishes first – it’s a guaranteed good time.“
