Margaret Truman Daniel Dies

Margaret Truman Daniel, who attended GW while her father served as president, died today at 83. She graduated from GW in 1946, and spent the latter part of her life writing mystery novels. The Washington Post has the full obituary, and we will be running one in Thursday’s paper.

The Hatchet previously reported that Truman often met her father, president Harry S. Truman, outside of Quigley’s Pharmacy (now Tonic) for sodas.

Truman’s name came up again last year when Jane Lingo — GW’s longest-serving employee, working in Media Relations — died after 50 years at the University. Lingo and Truman were good friends, and were known to spend a lot of time at White House gatherings while going to school in Foggy Bottom.
