Check the main Hatchet site for the article I wrote about scheduling. This is a topic that has been covered ad naseum, especially during the summer when there isn’t much else to talk about, but I tried to look at it from some new angles. I’m not sure how successful I was, but hopefully it provides some new insight into how the scheduling process works.
A few things I couldn’t get into the article:
Kvancz is worried about what he perceives to be a declining interest in the basketball teams by the students. Part of that may have to do with not playing good teams at home, but he wondered if fans would come out for a game against a team like Bradley, who is good but not a big name. He was also frustrated with the lack of support for the women’s team and has run out of ways to get the students to come to the Smith Center.
Also, I heard from a source that GW may play another powerhouse team out west (in addition to UCLA) next season. The information is not rock solid, but it’s also not baseless.
Hopefully I’ll have some more info tomorrow, as I am leaving the country Saturday for a week.
And please, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, either post a comment here or email me.
