Today, Karl Hobbs said once again that GW is the only team to lose 4 of its 5 starters from last year, a comment that had previously worried GW fans who thought it may mean Maureece Rice was jumping to the NBA. With Rice deciding to stay in school, this comment struck me as strange, so I asked Hobbs about it. He said he meant that Hollis and Diggs split starting time last year, so neither of them counted as starters. To me, this would mean that they lost 3 of their 4 main starters from last year, but regardless, Hobbs said not to worry about either Diggs or Hollis leaving.
He was also emphatic in asserting that he truly believed GW shoud not be considered one of the teams to beat next year in the Atlantic 10, saying that no one lost more in terms of points and rebounds than the Colonials. He seemed to honestly believe this and not just to be saying that to temper expectations. What do you guys think? How good will the 2007-2008 GW Colonials be?
