Things are getting interesting here in Atlantic City where Xavier leads Rhode Island 34-33 at the half. Rhode Island looks pretty impressive. Per usual, Will Daniels is leading the pack for the Rams with nine points. Jimmy Barron has five points and is 1-for-3 from beyond the arc. Baron is scary. He has the most ridiculous range. Doellman has two fouls for the Musketeers and Derrick Brown has three. Drew Lavender and Justin Cage are leading Xavier with seven points a piece.
Most readers of this blog know that GW beat Rhode Island and lost to Xavier so a Ram win could be big for GW’s tournament hopes and may squash Xavier’s at-large bid. How does Xavier have an RPI in the 30s? Its out-of-conference wins come over VCU (good win), Villanova (boo), American, Miami (Ohio), Illinois, Western Carolina, Detroit, Arizona State and Kansas State.
