Sophomore Nicole Capp and sophomore Brand Kroeger will be next year’s Student Association president and executive vice president, the Joint Elections Committee announced Thursday night at about 11:40 p.m. in the Marvin Center.
Capp beat junior Marc Abanto by about 54 percent to 46 percent, while Kroeger defeated junior Nick D’Addario for the position of EVP by about 59 percent to 41 percent.
Abanto and D’Addario were both juniors and both runningmates on the Student Union slate. Candidates on that slate swept the SA Senate races last week.
Thursday night’s vote-counting took only 20 minutes, in comparison to the more than six hours spent counting last Thursday. The counting began about about 10:55 p.m. and ended at about 11:15 p.m. A little less than 30 minutes later, the JEC returned to announce the results.
More than 50 campaign supporters and members of the media packed the third-floor room of the Marvin Center. Student Activities Center officials monitored the elections, as SAC has purview over the SA.
