Good evening from the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in downtown Providence where GW will square off with Providence College at 7:30. Few pre-game observations and notes:
Biggest news is Cheyenne Moore said he’ll be back Tuesday. Unsure if that means he’ll be back for Saturday’s matchup with Virginia Tech in the BB&T but he’ll be practicing.
Carl Elliott is walking with a slight limp. Doesn’t seem like anything to worry about. No bandages and Elliott is warming up. Thin crowd so far tonight in a building that holds 10,800 people. One of tonight’s keys should be stopping Friars’ guard Sharaud Curry, who is averaging 16.7 ppg this season. Curry was nailing everything around 6 p.m., when he was shooting alone on the floor of the DDC. If GW’s frontcourt gets in foul trouble early there could be problems. Providence is a physical team with some serious big men up front and physical guards. GW’s bench doesn’t have the best frontcourt presence with Cheyenne Moore injured and Hermann Opoku suspended. Also, tonight’s game MAY Be on ESPN Plus. I saw some ESPN Plus microphones so check it out. Enjoy the game.
