Longwood’s Maurice Sumter had 17 points in the first half to help the Lancers to a 35-27 halftime lead.
Maureece Rice led GW scorers with 12 points but the Colonials were only able to manage 27.6 percent shooting from the floor. Carl Elliott, who is averaging 27 points per game this season, had four points in the half.
GW had five first half turnovers against the third-year Division I program.
