The athletic department sent this out after my dicussion with Jack Kvancz today:
The George Washington University Athletics Department announced today that it will withhold men’s basketball player Hermann Opoku from participation in the first 11 games of the 2006-07 regular season. Opoku will continue to practice with the team and will be available to play in the Jan. 3 game against Fordham at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. This decision was made in consultation with the NCAA based on his past athletics participation. This step was taken to ensure that Opoku will be an active member of the George Washington men’s basketball program for the remainder of his college career.
