Indie rockers Ben Lee and Aqualung are performing at Mount Vernon’s annual spring Fountain Day, according to Lee’s Web site. Aqualung’s Web site has not yet announced the concert.
The Mount Vernon Programming Council’s Web site has yet to announce the concert. Sophomore Jenna Meier, of the Programming Council’s office, could neither confirm nor deny that they were the performers.
The performances, which will be free to all students on Saturday, April 29, will feature Australian artist Lee opening for London performer Aqualung, also known as Matt Hales. Aqualung’s Coldplay-esque sound has led his two albums, Strange and Beautiful (I’ll put a Spell on You) and Still Life 1, to iTunes prominence. Lee, an established 26-year-old musician, has found limited success with his albums Hey You. Yes You. and the recent Awake is the New Sleep.
Fountain Day has become a more high-profile University festival in recent years, drawing in Howie Day as last year’s performer.
