Continuing on the conversation that’s taking place in the comments section of the previous post, I want to clarify the delay in the story about Cheney’s donation to the MFA. I didn’t rush to put the story online, because something seemed fishy. In 2001, The Hatchet reported a story that was essentially identical to this press release:

After calls all day to the MFA and the White House, I was able to learn that this wasn’t exactly breaking news. Cheney began the process of making the donation five years ago, and now the execution of that donation has finally taken place. It’s noteworthy (which is why you’ll see it online, with the rest of the Web Extras, with the caveat that this was planned in 2001). But I don’t think this warrants a rush to update to the Web site either.
