A few people had asked me to give a take on what GW’s depth chart will look like for the coming year. While it appears that Hobbs’ starting lineup is set, a large swath of the team figures to get playing time during the year, given his penchant for continuous substitutions. Here’s my take on the deph chart:
Point Guard: Carl Elliott, Maureece Rice
Shooting Guard: Danilo (J.R.) Pinnock, Noel Willmore
Small Forward: Omar Williams, (Pinnock), (Regis Koundjia*) Montrell McDonald
Power Forward: Mike Hall, (Koundjia*), Robert Diggs
Center: Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Dokun Akingbade, Alex Kireev
By Hobbs’ own admission in a previous interview, he will use GW’s depth to wear down opponents and as such, will run as many as a 10-man rotation during games. Versatile players such as Pinnock, Maureece Rice and Koundjia when he becomes eligible later this year will see time at a myriad of positions. Overall, the balance on the depth chart will prove invaluable during the year.
