If you have $5
Check out some of the events at the Kennedy Center’s Festival of China. With dozens of free and low-cost events running throughout the weekend and the month, you can choose from dance (the National Ballet of China has an open rehearsal on Friday), music (the Festival of 250 Drums, at the Millennium Stage on Saturday) or exhibits, such as a fashion show with Chinese designers including Vera Wang and Anna Sui.
If you have $10
Donate it to a good cause, without needing one of those goofy Livestrong bracelets to show for it. The man with the yellow jersey, Lance Armstrong himself, will be rolling into D.C. around noon this Saturday for the conclusion of his Tour of Hope. Catch a glimpse of him (and maybe his girlfriend, singer Sheryl Crow, as well) at the Ellipse, where you can participate in free activities including a simulated Tour de France ride.
If you have $20
Get a taste of Deutschland at the Capitol City Mid-Atlantic Oktoberfest. This Saturday, $20 gets you a bottomless taster glass for more than 70 different brews. The event will be held at 2700 South Quincy St. in Arlington, Va., from noon to 8 p.m. Don’t forget your lederhosen.
If you have a suggestion for $5 – $10 – $20, e-mail [email protected].
