And you want to feel like a kid again, head over to the free Fall for Fairfax festival (held on the ellipse at the Fairfax County Government Center in Fairfax, Va.). Though it’s a little out of the way, the best way to ring in the fall season is with hayrides, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making and apple cider on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you have $10
And you want to have some less wholesome adult fun, head to Chaos on Saturday night for the Funky Divas Drag Cabaret. Starting at 11, you can drink and dance with the drag queens, if you choose. This popular show can fill up fast, so the club recommends you have reservations if you come with a group.
If you have $20
Had enough of Eastern Market? Try Western Market, a.k.a The Crafty Bastards Arts and Crafts Fair, the antithesis of Eastern Market. You’ll still find the funky jewelry and crafts of the aforementioned, but with a whole lot more attitude. The fair runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marie Reed Recreational Center at 18th Street and Wyoming Avenue.
