Student group Change for Students canceled an overnight protest against the housing selection process Wednesday because of rain. The event will be rescheduled for April 18 at 10 p.m.
The sleepover on the Quad with the proposed name “Housing Rejection 2001” will include a barbecue, live music and contests. The Student Association is helping to coordinate the event with Change for Students.
The protest is designed to raise awareness about GW housing and the housing selection process by showing GW officials the number of students who signed up for housing but still have no place to live next year, said junior Dan Loren, co-founder of Change for Students.
The group received a permit from the University to hold the event on the condition that a University Police officer remain on the premises. Loren said he encourages students to bring blankets and sleeping bags, although most students will probably not spend the night. SA Executive Vice President-elect Josh Singer said he expects at least 100 students to show up for the event.
