CLLC clarifies checkout memo
A recent memo from the Community Living and Learning Center said students must be signed up for a checkout appointment by May 8 and that belongings must be packed and ready to go, by the time the appointment occurs.
Sarah Evenson, a community director with CLLC, said students do not have to have all items completely packed before their checkout appointment. She said students should have walls and surfaces cleared so community facilitators can inspect furniture and walls for damage. She said CLLC requires students to clear the walls before the appointment because CFs must insure nothing was damaged during the academic year.
Evenson also said the end-of-the-year checkouts help CFs and students clarify accountability among roommates for damages that occurred during the school year. Students can then recognize exactly what charges they will incur, she said.
Freshman Bridget Grage said the checkout procedures are beneficial.
It’s probably a good procedure so people will be prepared rather than waiting for the last second, Grage said.
