Men’s Basketball
Mike Jarvis came to GW with quite a challenge: Try to do something – anything – with a program that had lost 27 games in the 1988-’89 season and had not been to the NCAA Tournament since 1961. Although some say Jarvis spent too much time looking for another job when he should have been looking for local recruits, he pulled one of the great miracles of college basketball in making the Colonials respectable.
And he in fact did far more than that. He took the Colonials to seven postseasons, including a Sweet 16, and he gave Foggy Bottom memories that will last another century.
