The Hoyas were starting to gain national attention after an upset of No. 12 St. John’s at McDonough Arena, but Haviland Harper’s tip-in as overtime expired won this epic affair, giving GW a rare win on the Hilltop.
A spirited but evenly divided packed house saw John Holloran nail a 30-footer to tie the game at 73 and send the contest to overtime. There, Harper tipped in Kevin Hall’s missed layup for the win. Pat Tallent scored 33 for GW.
