The GW baseball team improved its home record to 7-1 with a three-game sweep of Pace University at Barcroft Park. The Colonials (8-10) lit up the scoreboard with the long ball over the weekend, hitting six home runs and scoring 33 runs overall.
GW will look to extend its winning streak Tuesday when the Colonials host Maryland. GW will then head up the hill to face Georgetown Wednesday.

The Colonials scored six first-inning runs en route to Sunday’s 14-3 beating of Pace.
Sophomore Mike Bassett had an RBI single and junior Dan Rouhier had an RBI double to jumpstart GW in the early going. GW also scored four runs in the second inning behind Adam Belicic’s three-run home run, his second of the year. Three GW pitchers combined for a six-hitter on the day.

Saturday, March 11
GW’s eight-run second inning blew visiting Pace away Saturday as the Colonials cruised to a 15-1 victory in the second game of a doubleheader.
Rouhier’s three-run shot highlighted the inning that also saw the GW offense nail three RBI doubles. Colonials’ pitcher Chris Worth pitched six strong innings, allowing only one run on four hits.

Saturday, March 11
GW’s Matt Walker singled home teammate Travis Crowder in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Colonials a 5-4 extra-inning victory in the series opener Saturday afternoon.
Crowder, the lead-off man, was hit by a pitch to start the inning. The sophomore advanced to second base on a passed ball and then with one out stole third base before Walker’s left-field single won the game.
