GW signs two recruits
Two local products – Val Brown, of Springfield, Va. and Chris Monroe, of Hyattsville, Md. – signed national letters of intent to play men’s basketball at GW, head coach Tom Penders announced.
Brown is a 6-1 guard at Robert Lee High School. As a sophomore, Brown averaged 22 points, four rebounds and five assists per game for Lee. A Street & Smith‘s honorable mention all-American, Brown is “one of the best point guard recruits I’ve ever signed,” Penders said.
Monroe is a 6-3 guard/forward at Good Counsel High School. Also a Street & Smith‘s honorable mention all-American, Monroe averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds as a junior.
Aguilar named player of the week
The Atlantic 10 named junior guard Elisa Aguilar player of the week for her performances against Georgetown University and the College of William & Mary.
She scored a game-high 29 points to lead GW past the Hoyas Nov. 16 and racked up 16 points and nine assists against William & Mary Friday.
